Understanding investment risk

Any investment comes with a level of risk. By risk we mean how much your investments can go up or potentially down in value.

Higher-risk investments are more likely to be volatile meaning the fund can go up and down in value more frequently and by larger amounts. Investments that are seen as lower-risk are steadier but may give you a lower return in the long term.

Measure your attitude to risk by using the eValuate tool.
