You are in the defined benefit section if...

You are likely to be in the defined benefit section if:

  • You started working for Pearson no later than 31 March 2003.
  • You may have seen words on your benefit statement such as: residual pension, cash equivalent transfer value and accrual.
  • You have ‘defined benefit’ mentioned in your pension communications.

You are in the defined contribution section if...

You are likely to be in the defined contribution section if:

  • You are contributing a percentage of your salary each month.
  • Pearson contributes a percentage of what you pay in.
  • You joined Pearson after 31 March 2003.
  • You may have seen words on your benefit statement such as annuity, investments or Pension Pot when referring to your own pension.
  • You have ‘Money Purchase’ or ‘Auto Enrolment’ or ‘defined contribution’ mentioned in your pension communications.
